Art (Pastel) / English
Maximum 10 students in English class
(Minimum 4 weeks enrollment; 6 hours Pastel Art and 20 hours English per week)
Sponsored by the Pastel Society of America and Rennert, Pastel / English combines the creativity and pleasure of pastel art and intensive American English studies in exhilarating New York City. The Pastel Society of America is the oldest and most important one of its kind in America. This unique art form is created by striking sticks of dry pigment across an abrasive surface, such as the ground, canvas, sanded board or paper. The rich color gets embedded in the surface to produce vibrant paintings or sketches which vary with individual artists. Best of all, there are no entrance requirements (neither artistic nor English level). The Flora B. Giffuni Atelier for Pastels is dedicated to providing expertise, guidance and personal attention to beginners as well as advanced students and professional artists. Students attend English classes 20 hours per week where they will improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Then students attend 2 three-hour group pastel lessons each week in your choice of genres, including portrait, figure, landscape, cityscape, still life and abstract.
