Culinary Classes
Read to cook up a storm in one of the world's culinary capitals?
The world famous French Culinary Institute at the International Culinary Center in New York City's SoHo neighborhood has been training some of the world's most talented chefs and bakers since 1984. This iconic institution boasts outstanding alumni that include world-famous restaurant owners, pastry chefs and critically acclaimed cookbook writers.
Rennert International and FCI have partnered to create 3 part-time amateur courses in cooking to expand students' horizons while they learn valuable skills in the kitchen and practice their English. All courses include uniforms, tool kits, materials and supplies. These courses are open to intermediate level students. No previous cooking experience is necessary.
Essentials of Fine Cooking (4 weeks)
During this intense, 40-hour class, students will learn valuable cooking techniques such as marinades, poaching, braising, sautéing, grilling and knife skills. Students then put these skills to work to create 25 delicious recipes that they will share with their classmates in a "family meal." No previous experience necessary.
Chocolate Desserts (2 weeks)
Become a chocolate expert! In this course, students will learn expert techniques and recipes to make deep, dark melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, and decadent chocolate desserts. Students will also learn a few decorating tips to make their creations stand out, all under the guidance of helpful FCI chef-instructors.
Parisian Breads (1 week)
Ooh-la-la! Paris is known for its delicious baguettes, brioches and croissants. And in just 12 hours, students will learn how to mix, shape, proof and bake a variety of French breads. Students will learn valuable baking skills from professional baking instructors and practice their English in this fun and engaging course.
