American Business in Action
Practical English in the Working World
For students who are ready to experience English in the capital city of business and cultural affairs, this program offers a unique combination of supervised classwork and exposure to English in companies throughout New York. Students apply their language skills in real-life business settings on projects related to Advertising, Architecture, Graphic Design, Fashion, Finance, Music, Publishing and Real Estate. They collaborate with company staff members on research, communication projects, administrative tasks and offer creative input in meetings and presentations.
To participate in this program, students must achieve high-intermediate to advanced language skills, complete appropriate coursework involving verbal and written performance, and maintain good attendance. Once accepted into the program, students will interview with sponsor companies and will join local staff and other interns in a great experience!
How the Program Works
PEWW PART ONE
- Students attend the morning internship class for the first 2 weeks and receive free additional seminars for résumé preparation and interview techniques
- Students participate in on-site interviews at selected companies
PEWW PART TWO
- Students are placed in local businesses and organizations where they gain exposure to Practical English in the Working World
- Students also attend classes full-time, which include Independent Study Projects. They focus on business communication skills, meetings and negotiations, and global issues.
