Fun and Culture in Miami

Miami is known for its beautiful weather, its ocean and beaches, its distinctive architecture, and its unique blend of American, Latino and Caribbean cultures.

Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami - Features a 13,000-object collection, with strengths in Renaissance, Baroque, American, Ancient and Native American and Asian art.

Miami Art Museum, downtown Miami - Dedicated to international art of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Miami Carnival Center for the Performing Arts opened in September 2006. It is the new home of the Concert Association of Florida, Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet and New World Symphony.

Miami Museum of Science and Space Planetarium - The main feature here is a star projector, which is capable of accurately reproducing the stars and planets as seen from anywhere on Earth at any time during the year. The Weintraub Observatory houses two powerful Meade telescopes, available for viewing every Friday night from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. (weather permitting).

Miami Seaquarium - Home of Lolita the Killer Whale and the TV superstar, Flipper. This is the place where you can swim with the dolphins. Sea Lions, Nile Crocodiles.

Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami - Exhibitions, related symposia, publications, films, lectures, performances, and educational outreach activities.

Parrot Jungle Island - Parrot shows, waterfront serpentarium, ape and monkey exhibits, Everglades habitat, and open aviaries.

St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church - An ancient Spanish Monastery built in Segovia, Spain in 1141, the building was brought to the United States in pieces by William Randolph Hearst and reassembled by Miami developers in 1952.

South Beach - Miami's hippest neighborhood and the home of photogenic Ocean Drive, the Art Deco historic district, many trendy restaurants and hotels, and a bustling beach.

Venetian Pool, Coral Gables - A Venetian type lagoon carved out of coral rock featuring caves, stone bridges and waterfalls.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens - An Italian style villa with formal gardens and fountains located on Biscayne Bay.
