Meet Our NY Students
Rennert's Students
Some say that when they travel, they feel as two people: the person they are, and the person they are becoming. What does a Rennert Bilingual student typically seek? To understand, to see, to know more! And to do it all in English in the crazy-busy melting pot of the world: New York City!
And when do Rennert students come to New York? Year-round, on vacation, on a break from school, while changing jobs. When is the best time to come to New York? In the hot summer, when the pavement almost melts, and the beautiful winter, when Central Park glistens with snow, in the fall when the leaves turn gold, orange and red, or in the spring when flowers bloom in carpets of color. Anytime is a good time, students say, because the city never sleeps. Whether it is the Stock Exchange or the Seaport, the Metropolitan Museum or Fraunces Tavern, where Washington said goodbye to his troops, there is always something to do! Marvel at the bright lights of Broadway and Times Square or dance in our sizzling hot nightclubs.
As teachers, the most wonderful thing for us is to see is the many ways in which students learn English. The classroom is only the beginning. Over a conversation with other Rennert students in a Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown, or dancing salsa at a local club in SOHO, or buying a Metrocard in Grand Central with eight million other New Yorkers, Rennert students never give up! They learn business English, slang, everyday English with which they discuss, ask questions, and describe their own life and experiences.
Who is a Rennert student? An air-traffic controller from France, an engineer from Korea, a young vacationer from Germany, a musician from Turkey, a business woman from Norway and a doctor from Japan. Not to mention the economics student from Brazil, the law student from Italy and the arts student from Spain. Together they work in daily classes and workshops, on school trips and activities, in Professional English Program groups and individual lessons to create the wonderful world of Rennert in New York!
