Professional English Program Group Classes

The classes consist of small groups (three to five professionals) meeting for three hours each morning and three hours each afternoon, five days a week. Your colleagues will have similar language skills to your own, as they will be upper-intermediate to advanced level. The course curriculum allows the flexibility for students to begin each Monday, which adds an exciting and fluid dimension to the program as the composition of the class changes every week.

You will have two instructors in this program, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. This format enables you to be exposed to various styles, accents and specializations. Morning classes may explore language and listening skills, while afternoons allow for the depth to explore various aspects of language, case studies, or fluency development. Instructors work together to create the most effective curriculum for you.

After completing a written exam, the Professional English Program Coordinator will contact you to perform a short telephone interview. If your level is suitable for the class, you may register and fill out an Advanced Questionnaire. These three aspects of the registration process ensure a customized program that suits your interests and addresses your language needs.

The Full Time Professional course enables you to fully explore a wide range of topics in a group setting. Your instructors will lead discussion-based classes, highlighting cultural aspects of communication as well as focusing on a variety of activities. Conducting meetings, negotiations, telephoning, presentations, socializing, formal writing, and interviewing are some of the main points that are developed through weekly critique, role-plays, and case studies. Your instructor constantly adapts the curriculum to suit the needs of the participating students. Customized readings, presentations, and vocabulary allow you to efficiently and effectively improve at a rapid pace.

There are also weekly or bi-weekly excursions within New York City to deepen your cultural knowledge as well as employ your skills in a natural setting. Excursions to the United Nations, The Federal Reserve, CNN, Wall Street, Rockefeller Center, and other New York landmarks allow you to enhance your sense of New York and American institutions.

Through discussion-based classes, you are able to work with students from all over the world in professional English exploration. You may begin studying any Monday, which maintains the diversity and life of the class.

The Professional lounge provides you with a home base in New York, with amenities including computers, newspapers, telephones, fax machines, coffee, and tea. The lounge area is a wonderful resource and offers you an ideal, central location from which to participate in the activities of the city.

As in the Full-Time Professional Group class, there is a two-tiered process for entering the program, with the grammar exam, with the telephone interview, and, upon registration, the advanced questionnaire.

These steps allow your instructors to customize the course to the participating individuals, thereby enabling you to improve much more rapidly.

The course structure facilitates English language development while giving you the freedom to explore American culture outside of the classroom. Three hours a day of intensive study complement a half-day of sightseeing, Broadway musicals, shopping, museums, or the many other cultural attractions in this fast-paced city. The Part Time Professional Group is an explorative, well-rounded alternative for your time in New York.

You will spend three hours each day in one of our Professional small group classes (3-5 professionals) where you will build group socialization and discussion skills among other participants. You will meet for another three hours each day with an experienced private instructor focusing on your own individual English development.

The Professional group emphasizes meetings, role plays, negotiations, telephoning, and other group-based activities. The interaction with colleagues from around the world enriches your understanding of the cultural dimensions of English as an international language. Group activities help broaden your knowledge of international English accents, styles, and will help open the world of international professional development.

The one-on-one instruction complements the group class by providing an intensive means of improving your English rapidly. The curriculum of the private class is flexible and adapted to your individual needs. We will choose a specialized private instructor to address your personal learning needs and style and customize lessons for you.

As in the Group Professional options, the Professional Combination has a two-tiered registration process. Telephone interview and advanced questionnaire enable the Professional Coordinator to prepare for your individual needs.
