The company's growth has been augmented by strict internal quality control standards and customer loyalty as well as in-market visits. Rennert is a founding member of (IALC), the International Association of Language Centres, which, since its launch in 1983, has implemented rigorous academic and ethical benchmarks for language schools worldwide. CÚsar Rennert was IALC's first elected president and remains active in the organization. He uses IALC's strict Code of Ethics as a foundation for Rennert's internal quality assurance. This year, IALC was the winner of Study Travel Magazine's STM Star award for Best School Association. Rennert was nominated for an award in the English Language School North America category.
Rennert's customer base shifted during the 1980s as an increasing percentage of its students came from overseas to the USA for ESL courses. "As the European and Asian economies improved it became more attainable for students to travel to this country for English courses," Mr. Rennert says.
Rennert responded by bolstering its English curriculum, adding programs for English students interested in business, professional and creative specializations. It established TOEFL preparation classes and tests for international students seeking admission to American universities. Determined to maintain an optimal learning experience for its students, Rennert's educators created 10 levels of proficiency for the school's English classes and a review process that ensures students are always at their correct level of learning.
Rennert launched its translations department soon after the school was founded in 1973. Over the years, it has evolved into a flourishing business that is widely respected in the language and translation industry. Rennert Translation Group has staked out specialties in market research, legal documents, beauty, banking, marketing, public relations, human resources, among other business sectors.
Rennert Translation Group's clientele includes some of the top multilingual companies in the world. Its project managers and translators have worked on many high-profile projects, translating jokes for Conan O'Brien, coordinating Spanish and Chinese voiceovers for a Sesame Street instructional video, and providing interpreters for sensitive international conferences involving political, business and religious leaders. In January 2005, the Rennert Translation Group translated the cover of the New York Times Magazine into Arabic and received a rare credit (for a company) from the editors of the Times Magazine for its work.
After the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, Rennert executives reaffirmed their commitment to international education and communication and to their beloved city of New York. After three years of hard work and belt-tightening, Rennert's business came back stronger than ever. The company did its part to share in the rebuilding of New York's economy by making in-kind translation services contributions to NYC & Co., New York's convention and visitors' bureau.
The following year, Rennert introduced the SIT TESOL (Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages) Training Course in New York. An intensive teacher training program affiliated with the School for International Training (SIT), the 130-hour course offers a practical and rigorous curriculum that gives students the opportunity to gain the widely respected SIT TESOL certificate. In 2012, Rennert introduced a proprietary TESOL course and added specialized classes to the TESOL program in NYC.
In 2009, Rennert launched its first overseas school in Istanbul. Rennert Istanbul operates in partnership with KIK EGITIM ve DANISMANLIK LTD. STI, a Turkish-based company headed by long-time English teacher and academic Idil Kemerli. The school is located in the F?nd?kl?-Kabata? neighborhood of Istanbul.
Rennert Miami South Beach opened in the beach community in March 2011. Rennert The South Beach school offers Rennert's highly respected English programs, including General English, the Professional English Program, TOEFL, and Arts Plus English in a location known for its relaxing recreational opportunities, fashion, international culture and high end retailers.
Rennert's respected presence in the international English school sector was recognized by agents around the world who voted the company to the short list for Study Travel Magazine's Star awards three years in a row - 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Rennert continues to grow and to add new businesses with its formula for success based on the core business principles of its owner and founder, CÚsar Rennert.
