Teaching English to Young Learners
The TEYL Certificate course is designed for teachers who plan to teach young children (between the ages of 3 and 10 years old).
The course introduces specific method of lesson planning used for young learners taking into consideration their characteristics, abilities, and appropriate classroom management techniques. Participants will experience and examine lessons for different age groups ranging from under five to 10 years old, as well as a range of different activities they can use in their lessons.
Course participants will complete a project; planning a one-week unit plan; writing specific lesson plans for an age group of their choice; and micro-teaching (teaching their classmates role playing as children) key parts of the lessons they have planned, focusing specifically on how to incorporate songs, books and video in the classroom.
This course is designed as an extension to any TESOL/ TEFL Certificate course. Due to the demanding nature of the course, potential students are required to have an Intermediate-High Intermediate level of English and a TESOL/TEFL Certificate.
