Rennert International, New York City’s premier language school, recently celebrated 50 years of connecting the world through language with an anniversary celebration at The Dean in New York City. Rennert, which encompasses English and foreign language instruction, translation and interpretation services, and professional development for global businesses, received a proclamation from the Office of Mayor Eric Adams for its contributions to the educational landscape of New York City.

“Cesar Rennert’s singular vision of offering dynamic educational opportunities to international students in New York City has resonated with more than 75,000 students over five decades,” said Eimear Harrison, Executive Vice President, Rennert International. “Rennert’s mission could not have endured without the dedication of our partners, staff, and instructors, who support us in fostering connections through experiential learning and cultural understanding. This anniversary celebration reaffirms Rennert’s commitment to the next 50 years of opening international doors through language.”

The event was attended by members of the international business and travel community, as well as representatives of New York City Football Club (NYCFC), whose first team players benefit from Rennert’s language translation and interpretation services, as well as ESL. The proclamation from the Office of New York City Mayor Eric Adams declared November 16, 2023, as “Rennert International Day” in New York City.

“New York’s robust educational network, which serves individuals of all ages and backgrounds, is our City’s most valuable asset in advancing economic mobility and strengthening our communities,” the proclamation said. “In this spirit, I am pleased to highlight the work of Rennert International. … I commend its efforts to innovate the field and unlock the unlimited potential of its students.”

The anniversary event featured networking, refreshments and dancing, followed by performances by international artists from Japan and China. In recognition of its 50th year, Rennert launched a rebranding campaign that features a 50th anniversary seal, a modern logo, and a new tagline, “Language Solutions for Life.”

Rennert and Berkeley College

Founded by Cesar Rennert in 1973, Rennert started with one classroom, one teacher, and one language. Five decades later, the enterprise continues to expand and has served 75,000 students. The Rennert Experiential Approach to Language (REAL) method prioritizes communication through experience, immersing students in a new language from their first day of study. Teacher-led excursions and internships allow students to experience all New York City has to offer.

Rennert is a founding member of the International Association of Language Centers, an award-winning global community of language schools. It has been recognized for 11 consecutive years among the top five English Schools in North America by StudyTravel Magazine.

In 2018, Rennert joined Berkeley College and is now headquartered at the College’s New York City campus on 41st street, adjacent to the New York City Public Library, Bryant Park, and other Manhattan landmarks. Through the venture, Rennert students experience a streamlined pathway to higher education while Berkeley College students benefit from Rennert’s ESL resources and outbound study abroad programs. As of fall 2023, Berkeley College enrolls 290 international students, representing 57 countries.

“Rennert is to be commended for its contributions to the field of international education for over 50 years,” said Kevin L. Luing, Chairman, Berkeley College Board of Trustees. “Partnered with Berkeley College there are even more opportunities for Rennert’s continued growth and success.”
